Getting TO and AROUND D.C. REPOSTED for 2/2013 HOTH

If you have not been to D.C. Here's a little I know about airports and getting myself around town --  may be helpful for those who have never flown into the D.C. area.

IAD (Dulles International Airport) http://mwaa.com/dulles/dulles.htm is furthest away from the downtown area.  I have not flown into Dulles.

DCA (aka National; Reagan) http://mwaa.com/reagan/reagan.htm  I flew regularly into this airport because I could get on the metro there and get pretty darn close to where I was going.  At my destination Metro stop, a cab was generally available if further than an easy walk.

BWI (aka Baltimore Washington Int'l; Thurgood Marshall) http://www.bwiairport.com/en I landed at BWI one time and took an airport shuttle to the Swankin-Turner office at a cost of about $45 one way including tip.

An option for traveling to D.C. from any of the airports would be to take a shuttle or a cab to the nearest metro station and use the great public transit system D.C. offers.   Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority better known in D.C. as the METRO has a pretty user friendly website tool to find your way from A to B via C, etc.  :)  http://wmata.com/    Since I'm there so often, I ordered a handy SmartTrip Card so I always have my fare handy.  http://wmata.com/fares/smartrip/

I have found it cost-effective to check Priceline, Expedia, or Hotwire using the address of the location you'd like to be near.   Likely there is a hotel in convenient proximity with rooms for a reasonable price -- especially if you arrange to share a room.   Be sure to post a comment to let others know what you have found!

My Idea gives you a few to use . . .

All,

Since our bandwidth is a little short here at HOPEquarters, to help attendees with accommodations for HOPE on the HILL programs, I'm opening up this blog so you all can connect and communicate.

Posted below is the agenda and locations of the HOPE activities.  I've also posted some hotel suggestions to get you started.  I'll be counting on those who would like to connect with each other about room sharing to initiate that here.  I trust you'll share your comments about experiences of note when seeking your stay place.  Also feedback on how you found the hotel for future HOPE is appreciated  :)

Be aware that although that this  URL is being disseminated only to our group, this blog is public so use caution with sensitive information.
